file1. ARCTIC (APPROPRIATE RECONSTRUCTION TRAINING AND INFORMATION CENTRE)

Geographical Coverage : 84 villages from five mandals of Shrikakulam and Vijaynagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh

Appropriate Reconstruction Training and Information Centre (ARTIC) is a secular and non-profit organization. ARTIC is a Society, registered in Vijayawada in 1979 under the Society’s Registration Act. The members of ARTIC Society are reputed social reformer, Academicians, Doctors, Advocate and leaders of voluntary agencies. 
Activities:
Community Organisation:
Village Development Committees, Thrift and Credit groups, community assets such as common land, irrigating systems, drinking water pumps, grain bank etc, are organized for the purpose of people centered development.
Natural Resource Development:
ARTIC provide assistance to develop common land in the village and landless people are enabled to access it.
Joint Forest Management:
People living in the forest area are sensitized to form Vana Samrakshna Samithi and take responsibility for forest protection and regeneration.
Appropriate Technology:
Information dissemination and demonstration about appropriate technologies such as, smoke-less cook-stove, low-cost housing components, up gradation of fishing boats, vermi-culture etc;
Water & Sanitation:
Supporting community initiatives to improve access to adequate and safe drinking water, improving environmental sanitation and promoting improved personal hygiene and healthy practices.
Disaster response:
ARTIC responds to disasters facilitating relief and rehabilitation of the affected people and promotes disaster preparedness in villages vulnerable to disasters. Back to Top

file2. ASDS (AGRICULTURE AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY)

Geographical Coverage : 33 villages from seven mandals of Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh

Moved by the pathetic situation and inhumane living conditions of tribal communities in remote and forested villages, Mr. Gandhi Babu and other likeminded individuals came together to set up the organization in the year 1985. The organization strongly believes in right based approach in Tribal and women’s empowerment and also is involved in the development activities in collaboration with Government.
ASDS is primarily working with the “Koya” Tribe of Khammam district. Along with the development activities the organization has organized village communities in to Vanasmakhya, a federation of 33 joint forest management committees and women in Natawa Sangham, federation of 112 Self Help Groups. ASDS is also involved in two networks of NGOs. The organization has also taken significant role in disaster relief work ranging from community to a network level. The organization strongly believes in right based approach in Tribal and women’s empowerment and also is involved in the development activities in collaboration with Government.
Activities
Joint Forest Management: Promoted and strengthened ‘Village Vana Samarakshan Samities-VSS’ (Joint Forest Management committees) under Joint Forest Management which resulted in building livelihood resources for the communities.
Watershed Development: ASDS is involved in Micro watershed development in collaboration with the State government.  3000 hc. of in 6 villages is taken up.
Livelihood Resource Enhancement: Organization has promoted 150 Women SHGs  in two  Mandals in partnership with NABARD and brought these SHGs under an umbrella organization called ‘Natawa Sangham’.
Human Rights:The organization is disseminating information and generating awareness about laws to ensure Gender rights. Women in distress are helped to get legal aid and other assistance. Almost 17 women got the justice from this activity. Mobilized ‘koya’ tribal community in to a movement and empowered them to ensure minimum wages and land.

file3. ACTION - ASSOCIATION FOR RURAL AND TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT

Geographical Coverage : Nine Mandals of East Godavari and four mandals of West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.

ACTION, Association for Rural & Tribal Development is a non-Government voluntary service organization working with an aim to lend a helping hand to the downtrodden people in the society. Since its inception in 1988, ACTION has been concentrating all its efforts towards the development of weaker and deprived sections of the society. The organization is presently functioning in the coastal districts East Godavari and West Godavari of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Starting as a small organization in a tribal hamlet, the organization has come a long way, operating presently in over 90 villages with a well-trained field force. The organization has even acquired the capability of conducting training programs on different issues for the workforce of other organizations. The organization has successfully overcome the initial problems of financial constraints, skilled human resources and gaining confidence of target groups.

file4. CAMP – CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION FOR MEDICAL MISSION AND PEOPLES DEVELOPMENT

Geographical Coverage : CAMP works with 93 villages of Guntur, West Godavari, Prakasam, Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Christian Association for Medical mission and Peoples development (CAMP) is a Non Governmental Organization working to educate and organize the members of all communities irrespective of their caste and religion for development and meet the needs of the uncared children of agricultural laborers. CAMP is also involved in organizing youth  and women associations to promote health and nutrition programmes.
Activities –
Community Based Disaster Preparedness Programme
:Two staff was trained as TOT by CADME with support of OXFAM GB the project was implemented in 5 villages and 150 youth were trained as Task Force Group Members with 50% of women.
Environmental Awareness Campaign: With the support of Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt of India through Deccan development society, Hyderabad. CAMP organized awareness programmes on Water and its importance and Solid waste Management in Ponnur and Kakumanu Mandals of Guntur District.
Scientific Awareness Project.: In Collaboration with Dept of Science and technology Govt of India through CERENA Foundation, Hyderabad, CAMP organized awareness programmes through cultural performances in Ponnur and Nizampatnam Mandals of students and public on “ Science and its Importance.
Global Movement for Children: In collaboration with Plan International (India ) CAMP organized Global Movement on HIV/ AIDS with children in Ponnur, Nizampatnam, Kothapalem and Kuchanapudi of Guntur District.
Women Cooperative Programme: 93 Women Thrift Cooperatives were formed in 93 villages of Guntur, Prakasam and West Godavari Districts with the membership of 7852. Since 2001 Cooperative Development Foundation, Warangal is supporting the Programme.
Combating Child labor in coastal Andhra Pradesh project: CAMP initiated in collaboration with PLAN International, Hyderabad in 5 villages of Nizampatnam Mandal of Guntur District.Back to Top

file5. CDS – CHAITANYA DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY

Geographical Coverage : 21 villages of three Mandals from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

CDS has promoted several Community Based organizations in their working villages for delivery of its different projects such as disaster preparedness, prevention of HIV and trafficking and Income generation programmes, and these CBOs are involved in disaster response. CDS is working on Disaster preparedness, Promotion and strengthening of Sanghas (groups), Skill promotion to launch income generation projects, Natural resources Management, Combating Child Labour, Prevention of HIV/AIDS and Child trafficking.
Activities

  • CDS has been providing revolving fund to sanghas promoted among fishing community in Cirala and Vetapalam Mandals and Promotion of skill training women in tailoring and garment making in ‘Cirala’ and ‘Vetapalam’ Mandals. CDS assist the women in marketing of salt through sustainable livelihood projects.
  • Plantation of ‘Casurina’ in wastelands as part of Natural resource management in Cirala and Vetapalam Mandals.
  • Disaster preparedness and follow up programmes the 3 Mandals. Generating awareness among the school going and non school going children as follow up in all 3 Mandals.
  • Organize HIV/AIDS awareness programme in all 3 Mandals. Formation of PLWHAs sangams and supplying of nutritional supplements to them in all 3 Mandals.
  • Promoted Sanghams (groups) among Adolescent boys and girls and among children in all 3 Mandals and sustaining these groups.
  • Awareness on child trafficking to the general population in their target villages.
  • Establishment of ECC (Early child care) centre between age group of 3-5 years.

file6. CJWS – CHAITANYA JYOTHI WELFARE SOCIETY

Geographical Coverage : Eight Mandals from Nellor district of Andhra Pradesh

Chaitanya Jyothi Welfare Society is a voluntary organization with a strong belief in community involvement. The organisation holds a healthy relationship and high confidence amongst the district administration, other Government authorities. CJWS has organized Traditional handicraft worker from the rural part of Nellore district. CJWS is also involved in disaster preparedness and relief.
Activities
Promotion of languishing handicrafts:      
CJWS has organized Traditional handicraft worker from the rural part of Nellore district. CJWS is advocating for this languishing traditional handicraft to be consider as one of the valuable crafts of India.
Partners for sexual health project: 
Chaitanya Jyothi Welfare Society has entered into this great target in the year, 2000.  This project was funded by Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society. 
Community based rehabilitation for the disabled persons:
Chaitanya Jyothi Welfare Society has taken initiative for the up-liftment of the differently abled persons. This program is fully based on community participation. 
Community based disaster preparedness:
Almost 10 villages are organized for contingency planning and task force teams as part of CBDP since past four years.
Tsunami Response Programme:

  • To stabilize the suitable alternative employment opportunity for women.
  • To sustain the income of the women headed families.
  • To bring development in the life of the beneficiaries.

file7. CPF – CENTER FOR PEOPLE’S FORESTRY

Geographical Coverage : CPF is operating on livelihood and forestry issues in 12 districts of Andhra Pradesh in association with grassroots partners and Joint forest management committees.

Centre for People’s Forestry (CPF) is a Public Trust registered as a National organization on 6th August 2002. It is based on the vision that can help realize the objectives/goals pronounced in the National Forest Policy of 1988 which had a remarkable pro – people tilt. CPF is involved in Forest based livelihood enhancement, Lobbying and advocacy (stakeholder consultation), Action research, Networking and linkage building.
Activities
CPF collaborates and coordinates in many ways with grass-root NGOs, networks of NGOs, CBOs, Forest Department and other Government  & non Governmental agencies and takes up Projects and programmes that help in realizing the objectives as well as the following specific activity objectives:

  • To help people and communities participate effectively and critically in such programmes as Joint Forest Management (JFM) and Community Forest Management (CFM) to achieve the above objectives
  • To promote and nurture capacity building Institutions as well as other people’s institutions that work closely with people, which are needed for the economic and social empowerment of marginalized sections
  • To design and implement projects to foster linkages between different village level institutions related to natural resources on the one hand and between the Panchayats and other institutions such as - VSSs, Watershed committees, farmers associations, Water user associations, women SHGs and other CBO managed committees so that sustainable forest management becomes an integral part of village development plans
  • To train communities in Agro & Forest Bio Diversity related rights as pronounced in CBD (Convention on Biodiversity) and strengthen the local bodies in exercising their discretion in refusing/allowing new/monoculture varieties in their area and/or enhancing their abilities to deal with the external pressures in the extraction of medicinal plants from the forest.
  • To collaborate with other institutions such as – Academic, Research, Government, Non Governmental, Community based organizations and Consultancy agencies both National and International in undertaking studies, implementation of projects, sharing of information etc. Back to Top

file8. DFYWA - DISTRICT FISHERMEN’S YOUTH WELFARE ASSOCIATION

Geographical Coverage : DFYWA is working with 25 villages (covering a population of 123696) in nine blocks of Visakhapatnam district

DFYWA is exclusively operating among the fishing community. It works for the development of fisher folk, as they are poorest of the poor: serving on literacy, health and self-development and employment generation. In its interventions, the women and children are given special focus.  The organization has the ability to mobilize the people; particularly the fishing community on their issues.and also has relationship with the key Govt. Departments. DFYWA has experience of networking and advocacy in the struggle of human rights in general and the rights of fishing community in particular.
Activities

  • Mainstreaming of Disaster preparedness:  Village contingency planning, Workshops, training programmes, awareness generation programes on disaster preparedness.
  • Child Sponsorship programme: Right to food and livelihoods, strengthening of pro-poor governance, Enforcing Rights of women and girls, Rights to education,
  • Ecological and Livelihood Promotion Initiative with Traditional Fishers

file9. HCHW – HYDERABAD COUNCIL FOR HUMAN WELFARE

Geographical Coverage :HCHW is working in 11 districts (Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Warangal, Khammam, Warangal, Cuddapah, Kurnool, Anantapur, East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur) of Andhra Pradesh.

HCHW has is working with children on streets and in other difficult circumstances towards their rehabilitation, development, re-integration; prevention of flow of children (including trafficking) coming on to the streets (working with women and families in urban slums and NGO's in other districts of Andhra Pradesh), as well as promotion of the cause (advocacy and lobbying). HCHW is also operating Shelter homes for the street children

Activities

  • Rights, Rehabilitation and reintegration of street children
  • Mainstreaming of street children into formal education system
  • Empowerment of women by formation of urban SHG, and providing vocational trainings.
  • Joining Hands Together: A network of small NGOs in districts of Andhra Pradesh primarily focusing towards the arrest of migration of children from rural to urban.
  • Child Friendly Allied System: To sensitize and train the allied systems (Department of Police, Health, Education and Labour) on the issues of Street Children, Child Labour, Child Rights and Juvenile Justice System there by bringing a desirable change among them.
  • Strengthening Regional Resource Centre. The Regional Resource Centre is functioning at the state level towards the promotion of child rights through Research, Documentation, Training, Publication and Dissemination of Information to all its stakeholders at all levels.

Geographical Coverage : SAMSKAR works in four mandals of west Godavari district.

SAMSKAR has registered under the society Act it started working in West Godawari district in 1991.SAMSKAR started working for rights of Koya tribal, Fisher folk and the marginalized groups in the society. Organization main focuses area is West Godawari district.

Activities:

file11. SANGHAMITRA SERVICE SOCIETY

Geographical Coverage : Sanghmitra works with village communities of 15 mandals located in west Godavari District.

Sanghamitra is one of the pioneer organisations for promoting the downtrodden women into SHGs and SHG federations. Since its inception in 1984 Sanghamitra has had a sustainable growth, consolidating its work and reaffirming its commitment. 
Sanghamitra envisions a casteless, classless society, wherein peace, justice, gender equality and sustainable environment prevail, which uphold human dignity and social values.

Activities –

Women empowerment

  • Formation, formalisation and consolidation of shg’s and shg federation.
  • Capacity building of women in the areas of program finance management, livelihoods, needs assessment and gender. Linkages with the government departments and banks.

Primary education

  • Increase of retention rate
  • Enrolment of dropouts
  • Special schools for child labourers.

Community based mangrove regeneration and management

  • Formation of mangrove protection committees
  • Mangrove plantations and Livelihood support trainings 

Community based disaster preparedness, relief and rehabilitation

  • Formation of senior and junior task force groups
